2017

Dear Commercial Exhibitor,

The 2017 Houghton County Fair dates are August 24th to 27th.  A deposit of $50 and paperwork by January 30, 2017, will be required to guarantee the same booth as last year. The balance will be due on July 1, 2017, or the booths will be offered to someone that does get their payment and paperwork in and have indicated that they would like to switch booth spots. There is not a deadline if you are not particular about which booth you get, and reservations will be accepted until all the booths are taken.  Booths will be offered for 1,2,3, or all 4 days.  The price will be the same regardless of the duration of your stay, but you will not be required to stay for all four days if it is pre-arranged and you tear down after 10 p.m. for that day (Booth location, in this case, is up to the discretion of the fair.)  The fair accepts Mastercard, VISA and Discover.  Call (906)482-6200 for more information, or  fax (906)483-2101.

Admission Passes: Each vendor will receive 2 passes with each booth, and up to two more passes may be purchased for $10.00 each per booth rented.  If you need additional passes, they may be purchased at regular prices.  If you are an event sponsor also, those complimentary tickets may be exchanged for vendor passes.  Please note:  You are responsible for getting passes to workers for your booth.  The gate workers expect everyone to have a pass prior to getting in, or to purchase a pass at the gate. Please let your workers know this ahead of time. We will also provide each vendor with ONE parking pass to get you near the building to unload or load, and then to park behind the arena if space allows. The parking pass shall be hung in the window of the parked vehicle so it can be identified so the staff can find you to move it if necessary. All passengers in the vehicle need a separate admission pass prior to entering the “vendor” gate.  Passes will be handed out at the vendor gate as you enter on Thursday, or get them from the office on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

Insurance:  You are responsible for having insurance for your booth.  The insurance provider for the fair can provide a rider for $50 for non-food, $100 pre-packaged food vendors, if you do not carry your own insurance (ask your homeowners if applicable).  The amount of coverage will be determined with the type of booth you have. A certificate on insurance shall be presented to the superintendent listed below, or to the fair office before you will be allowed to set up your booth.  Liability, at a minimum, shall be the following:  Non-Food Vendors - $25,000; Food Vendors with prepackaged or prepared off site - $50,000; Food Vendors with on site preparation - $1,000,000.       

Dogs are prohibited on the grounds during fair hours.  If you travel with a dog, call the fair office at 482-6200 and options for arrangements will be presented.  Please read over all of the enclosed information carefully. Placement depends on electrical and water needs, with the Fair Board reserving the right to assign spots as needed.  Fair Board policy does not restrict duplication of non-food vendors.
